What is Chiropody?
The practice of Chiropody is the assessment of the foot and treatment and prevention of diseases or various disorders of the foot by therapeutic, palliative, or orthotic means.
Chiropody is practiced by qualified, regulated, registered practitioners called Chiropodists.
Chiropodists and Podiatrists are the only regulated foot care professionals educated exclusively in the assessment and treatment of foot disorders.
Chiropodists treat people of all ages for various foot ailments…everyone from babies to seniors.
Common foot problems that cause patients to seek the help of a Chiropodist include corns, calluses, diabetic foot problems, flat feet, bunions, ingrown toenail’s, problematic thick toenails, fungal toenails, athlete’s foot, warts, and heel/ foot/ arch pain.
More than 80% of the population will develop a foot problem at some point in their lives. Chiropodists/ Podiatrists are the foot care professionals that can help you treat and alleviate these ailments.
Physicians as well as other healthcare professionals often refer patients for consultations. However, a referral from a physician/ Family doctor is not required to see a Chiropodist.
